FEMA *$cks Kentucky: an Update

The governor of Kentucky mobilized all National Guard units. This is a step in the right direction. As you remember, certain counties in Kentucky have no power, water, or anything else except snow and ice. Shelters have been set up and people have died.
Today, FEMA stopped by to survey the situation.
FEMA, in grand fashion, took a look around and spoke thusly:
What y’all have here is yer basic e-mergency. Now yer basic e-mergency is a bad thing, yessuh, but it ain’t yer basic dizasster. See, FEMA helps y’all with y’alls dizassters, but not with y’alls e-mergencies.
Since what y’all got here is yer basic e-mergency, we don’t has to help y’all with food, shelters, or y’alls basic supplies. See y’all latuh!
Yes, FEMA, the folks who brought you Katrina, has told Kentucky that they have an emergency, not a disaster. Therefore they don’t have to help and they’re not.
Tremendous work, FEMA. Way to go, Brownie!

Thanks so much for helping us get the word out. We’re in a bit of a struggle down here. I’ve just been able to catch some of the national news today via internet connection at a local library, and I’m still appalled at how much this has been down-played. That ‘little storm’ we’ve had. I can say Fox News has done a good job with their coverage. Many articles from other services are focused on the more urban areas when it’s those of us in the rural areas who are struggling most.

The “Federal _Emergency_ Management Agency” doesn’t do Emergencies?
