CNBC: $7.36 trillion… [federal handout]

  • No Related Post

Bush and Congress touted the handout to total $700 billion.  This was quickly calculated (by people who know basic addition) to be over two trillion dollars.

Our good friends over at CNBC have calculated the real cost of the federal bailout handout to be $7.36 TRILLION. Check out their figures.

CNBC says that figure “is a combination of what’s been committed (where it is
defined) and what has actually been spent or lent (where a given program has started).”

Let me quote Advocates for Self-Government to put this in perspective:

  • more than twice what was spent on World War II, adjusted for inflation.
  • nine times what the government has spent so far on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
  • half the U.S. annual gross national product.
  • enough to pay off half or more of the country’s mortgages.
  • roughly $24,000 for every man, woman, and child in the U.S.
  • roughly $50,000 per taxpayer.

It’s not lying when the president does it..

“The war on drugs has been an utter failure. [W]e need to rethink and
decriminalize our [nation's] marijuana laws.”

– Barack Obama, January 2004

“President-elect Obama is not in favor of the legalization of marijuana.”

The FDA has approved a new drug to treat fibromyalgia.  This would be drug number two, I believe.  Before drug number one, my wife, a fibromyalgia sufferer, noted that people were having a hard time getting the diagnosis because doctors didn’t believe it existed (like multiple personality disorder).  She said that only when Big Pharma<tm> came out with a drug to treat it would it become a `legitimate’ disorder.  Damn if she wasn’t one hundred percent correct, hence Lyrica.

According to the Institute for Truth in Accounting, each of us owes $194,400 for the national debt.

Funny, I didn’t run the thing up.  I pay my bills. Yet because of the clowns in DC, I allegedly owe several times my yearly salary? There’s something wrong with the math here (not to mention that it’s long past time to throw them all out).

[...] Is it a Federal Bailout – or a Federal Handout? [...]

How much better off would the United States be if all members of the Congress & Senate had quit 50 years ago and just let the States run their own business? We would probably have a few failed States like California, New York, Ohio, & Michigan. If these rouge States did not get bailed out, they would straighten up and become an asset to the Country! But the fools who continue to vote the same thugs into Office have finally destroyed the greatest Country in the history of the World.

What Do You Think?
