While in the Voting Booth, Think of Your Country

Normally, I’m the loneliest guy at the polls… the guy who votes for the libertarian party. Every now and then I’ll see another lost soul there, sometimes stumping for a position.
I suspect I won’t be as lonely tomorrow as I am traditionally.
That aside, I still ask you to think of the plight of the country. America is a %*#@ing mess. It’s not likely to get any better. In fact, we seem to be in a bit of a rush to the bottom of this hell hole. Just look at what is running for president; that should give you a good idea of what we’re up against.
Why are we in this mess?
We’re in this mess because we don’t vote wisely. Some of us don’t vote at all. And every four years we fall for the same crap, over and over again. We need to take our heads out of the Bad Place and learn what’s going on around us.
Remember - Republican versus Democrat is Divide and Conquer. There is no significant difference between one thief and the other. There is simply no way they could get to where they are without being owned. There is only one party - the party of Greed.
Our forefathers fought and died for us. Think about that kind of sacrifice. Now think about what we have to show for it…. Obama and McCain. Our forefathers are spinning in their graves.
We need to return to our constitutional principles. If you want change, Obama isn’t going to give it to you; nor is McCain. Vote second party. I don’t even care which second party. The two thieves who are getting all the press are not going to help you. They are going to help themselves and all their corporate contributors. You are not one of them. You do not make the laws. Your job is to pay for things - nothing else. You are cattle. Unfortunately, you’re behaving like it.
The R’s and D’s are not interested in the constitution. Look at what the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania did to the constitution (with the help of the R’s and D’s in Congress). People fought and died for this?
Here’s what I’m doing and why.
I identified myself as libertarian because I am closest to libertarian in my views. I will not, however, vote libertarian for president. Bob Barr, the libertarian candidate, used to be a member of Congress. No matter what kind of excuses he comes up with, Mr. Barr voted for the Patriot Act. That in itself is grounds for treason.
A vote for either wing of the Greed Party (R or D) would be a waste of a vote and my time.
So what am I going to do? I’m going to do the same thing I was going to do at the start of this mess: vote for Ron Paul. Before you start frothing at the mouth, spouting cliches, I’ll tell you why:
- I agree almost one-hundred percent with his platform
- I will not vote with the Kleptocracy or status quo
- Neither of the two main thieves deserves my vote
- The lesser of two evils is still evil
- People fought and died so I could vote. I won’t waste it.
Second party voters send a message. Their numbers are swelling. The local turnout for Ron Paul in the local primary was unprecedented. People are mad as hell and they’re not going to take it anymore. Register your dissatisfaction with the process via your vote.
Be wary of the Constitution Party. Their platform is pretty decent until you realize they want a theocracy.
Go forth and do something for your country, please. I beg you - put down the beer, turn off Americans Idle, grab your Phillies cap and GO VOTE.
Second party.

“The lesser of two evils is still evil”
True, and I usually vote *against* one candidate, and not really *for* the other. But in this case, too many “second-party” votes may siphon away enough votes to make rigging the election work. Again. And that’s ever more terrifying to contemplate than the “lessor” getting in.

JP: I figure we’re screwed either way. And we are.
Second party votes in quantity will have an effect. It will be way too subtle and slow, but you gotta start somewhere.
