The impossible dream: educating your parents

I love my parents… I really do. It’s just that…
My parents used to live across the country. It was very difficult to get used to not just going over to visit them whenever we wanted. Seeing them involved a long plane ride and fighting in airports. Since we fight perfectly well [...]

new feature coming: ask a multiple

As I’ve mentioned, my wife has Dissociative Identity Disorder, formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder.  I like to feature information on this when I can, as well as maintaining resources for people living with someone who has DID (significant others, as they’re called).
I am about to introduce a new section of the blog dedicated to [...]

blog reminder:

The quantity of rude comments received (and deleted) tells me that people are not reading or are hard of understanding. Definitely humor-impaired.  I’m not talking about the comments you read below.  I’m talking about the ones I have to delete so you don’t have to read them.
I’ll type this slowly and stick to monosyllabics [...]

another great band story in the making…

As anyone with the possible exception of some of the more rude commenters here can tell you, I’m a guitar player.  You know, a left-handed guitar player, hence the name (leftystrat).   I’ve been playing for quite a long time, unfortunately by (with?) myself.
It’s not that I don’t want to be in a band.  It’s not [...]

america - you don’t have long…

We’re coming down the the final innings, folks.
If you love your country, act to protect it.
Call your congresscritters - now!  Inform them that this alleged bailout bill must not be passed.  We are giving up on Corporate Welfare.  We will not reward fiscal malfeasance.
The United States has an obscenely large debt that is allegedly owed.   [...]

Kennedy Hospitalized After 911 Call

Sen. Edward Kennedy, who has been in treatment for brain cancer,
that’s a hole so big I could drive a truck through it….it’s just too easy.
is taken to a  hospital near his Cape Cod vacation home after complaining of feeling ill.
After extensive examination, it was discovered that blood had infiltrated Ted’s alcohol level.   After  application [...]

The Creation of the Second Great Depression

Over at Lew Rockwell’s blog, Ron Paul wrote a piece with the above title.  I highly recommend reading it.  It’s an inside view of what’s going on with the bailout.
This is my favorite quoteworthy bit:  “The claim that the market [...]

news flash - McCain headquarters ordered evacuated…

You’re not going to believe me but I just heard this on the news.  The campaign headquarters of John McCain was ordered evacuated by the local sheriff.  This happened after one of the volunteers opened an envelope with white powder in it.  The powder has not been identified.
[it's probably not what you think.... it's coke... [...]

sarah palin addresses the national librarians’ association

Ok, not entirely.  Tremendous headline though, isn’t it?
I realize I haven’t exactly been Sarah Palin’s biggest cheerleader.  I want to make up for my ungentlemanly behavior.  I am going to send her a small token of my esteem and hopefully we can better understand each other.
I want to send her some really good books, like [...]
