World’s Toughest Animal Survives Space Exposure

Interesting article at Wired about a small invertebrate called the water bear. They shot a bunch of them into space to see how they’d fare, as they’re one of the toughest forms of life on the planet. They can virtually shut themselves down so as not to be affected by temperature or radiation. The findings once back on Earth are worth reading.
Also worth noting is that the experiment was partially about repairing DNA damage due to radiation exposure. I hear that radiation exposure is a very serious matter. Some have said that it’s the reason we don’t go too far from Earth, distance aside.
Regardless, enjoy and learn.
