Subway agency wants to keep MIT students quiet over hack August 15 - 10:36 AM ET UPDATED A federal judge has sided with the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority, ordering the students to continue to continue to stay quiet beyond the original Tuesday..

I think jurisprudence has finally lost it.  Whether or not it has anything to do with the full moon that may or may not be up there I can’t say.

1. they are violating free speech

2. the hack they’re trying to suppress is now available to the public, via the court system’s own website.  The briefwas attached to the lawsuit, which is a matter of public record.

3. this is clearly a case of Commerce vs Speech  - and we are seeing very clearly which one wins.  It’s so far after the fact that there’s no reason not to throw out the case.

Of course they sided with the businesses. Where I currently live, it cost me $1.75 to ride the transit system. The ticket is good for one hour, in one direction. So, if I get on the bus and ride 2 miles down the road, run into the store, and come back out…I have to buy another ticket to get back on the bus home. So, to go four miles, it cost me $3.50, more than gas. Public transit is supposed to be an affordable alternative and encourage better environmental practices, lowering a city’s overall pollution levels.
But no, they are more concerned with their freakin’ pocket books.
