robot with a rat’s brain? the president’s brain?

Scientists from the university of Reading have created a simple wheeled robot with distance sensors that is controlled wirelessly by a network of cells from a rat’s brain. The sensor data is fed to the neurons which reside in a nutrient/antibiotic solution - the cells output is then transmitted to the ‘body’ as control commands. The images in the above video make it all look surprisingly simple

At first I thought it had somehow become April Fools Day and nobody told me.

But you can actually watch a video of this. (YouTube)

Seems a bit unclear as to how exactly things interfaced but interesting reading nonetheless.   As someone interested in electronics, this is quite fascinating.  The discovery will lead to all sorts of mind/machine interfaces.  Just think of what they can come up with…

P.S.  Just joking about the president’s brain.   Rat brain cells are larger and much easier to find.
