and that’s news?

The moment I saw multiple outlets carrying news of John Edwards’ admission, I started wondering what the point of the exercise was.  The guy’s not even in the race, hence not newsworthy.  I figured someone else must be going on.

It didn’t take too long to read about the war in Georgia.  The New York Times has it on the front page.  Other papers have it ’somewhere.’

Apparently we trained the Georgians.  I hope we’re not headed for a proxy war.

To complicate matters, Georgia is a NATO signatory, meaning other countries have a responsibility to defend it if necessary.

We (the US) are playing in way too many sandboxes.  Small wonder there’s a bit of resentment against us worldwide.
