E-Mail:

the things you learn about in email…

Flash back to the early ’90s… I was ahead of the curve… my HR department at work informed me that they would cover my significant other if I signed a paper stating that she was my significant other.

Damn… who needs to ponder an offer like that, so I signed. Since we’re not big on ceremony but it required some sort of notice, I sent out an email to my friends and relatives:

To Whom….

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of PA is proud to announce the union of leftystrat’s girlfriend and leftystrat. Yes, they did it just for the coverage.

My friends and family are used to this sort of thing from me so they took it the same way they take anything else I say: they ignored it. It actually took FIVE years for some of them to figure out that I was serious. We’re still getting gifts, thirteen years on.

The world and how it communicates really has changed. I had to fill out a form the other day and realized I don’t write much at all these days - I know my way around a keyboard though.

Flash forward to earlier today….

There’s an email from a coworker to the team. She’s getting divorced.

Wow, divorce announcement by email.

What sorts of interesting news have you received via email??
