how satisfied are you with HP?

One of my coworkers just completed a long, painful task involving an HP computer. Whenever he has to call HP, you can actually hear his intestines twisting on top of each other, in addition to that resigned sigh that says `ok, I’ll order my own coffin now.’
He just received notice that HP is sending him a satisfaction survey. The notice stated that he could choose 10 for complete satisfaction and 9 for only satisfied.
Read it again.
I think HP has taken a page from the George Bush School of Polling, wherein you can say George Bush is the best president in the history of the country or George Bush has done a tremendous job. What is the best operating system - Windows XP or Windows Vista?
If nothing else, it pretty much guarantees the results you’re looking for. I wonder if the CEO has tied his/her salary to customer satisfaction.

It’s all part of the loss of freedom that we see everywhere. It is happening at a slow rate - just like that apocryphal frog in the nice warm water, who doesn’t even know his legs will soon be on the menu.
By the way, I usually am quite happy with HP, I like their printers quite a bit, but have seen a decline in quality - they are still above everyone else - they must do much research to know how to scrimp just the right amount.
Of course XP is much preferable, and will be until at least Vista SP2 comes out.
And George Bush - well, he is the biggest buffoon on record, and the loss of freedom that we are experiencing is partly our own fault - for if we had not allowed this buffoon to overreach, he could not have. It will take many, many years for this country to live down the George Bush legacy.

I wouldn’t call it a slow rate but it’s best looked at in the larger picture. No idea what it’s going to take to wake up Boobus Americus, the Great Unwashed.
Thanks for the comment, fellow `futurist’ (former conspiracy theorist).

Btw, our older HP printers worked forever. The newer ones petered out. Currently using Dells (Lexmark). Still forming an opinion but it’s 50/50 now.
Won’t let Vista in the door though. We’re keeping XP for the foreseeable future. I’m getting a lot of recognition for linux, which we’re slipping in stealthily :)
