shopping with multiples…

Dissociative Identity Disorder, aka multiple personality disorder, is not generally known as a positive thing.  This is due to how it was created: extreme childhood trauma, generally sexual.  So it’s a blessing to the survivor because it allowed them to survive horrific abuse but it has its complications.

You can read about DID/MPD at many websites.   I like to concentrate on the more amusing aspects that you won’t read about or see on the tv freak shows.  If you’re curious, there’s only one of me.   I happen to be married to a wonderful lady and got a bit of a bonus.  She’s `out of the closet’ about her multiplicity and I have permission to write about her.

Her birthday is coming up and lately I’ve been getting a lot of collaboration from `inside’.   Someone will pop up and tell me something she was looking at in a catalog or at the store.  Today she was food shopping and I got a call from someone else, letting me know they found these outdoor solar lights she was looking for.   Did I think they should buy them?

Hell yeah.  I’ll reimburse you when I get home.

Poof - one birthday present.  Zero effort - just hand over the cash  :)

This of course makes one wonder not about multiplicity, but why anyone in the known universe would want solar outdoor lights, no less want them as a birthday present.

It’s strange in my universe, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
