comcast at it again

I have been reading a lot about Comcast and the theory that they want to put a 250G per month download cap on all accounts. It seems to be creeping into more mainstream price. I find this very interesting, especially as I’ve had trouble with this very topic. It went like this:

Internet access ceases.

Me: What happened to my cable?
Comcast: I dunno, lemme look. Oh, you have to call this special number.
Me: why?
Comcast: it’s a different department

I try the number for 3 days, with not a single return call.
Pissed at the lack of internet access, I called Corporate, who said they’d put in a word for me.

Comcast: We shut down your cable internet.
Me: Why?
Comcast: You downloaded too much.
Me: How much is too much?
Comcast: We can’t tell you.
Me: How will I know I’ve downloaded too much if you won’t tell me?
Comcast: Don’t download so much.
Me: if you give me a number, I can monitor to make sure I’m not exceeding that amount.
Comcast: We can’t.
Me: How come I can’t get you on the phone?
Comcast: We don’t have incoming lines. You will only get an answering system.

Fucking buffoons.

Comcast’s spokesman stated that they don’t give out the amount when asked by many journalists. So this is their solution. Not to mention another way to get more money from their customers, as they’ll be fined if they go over. Just wait til the new `higher speed’ product arrives. They’ll get up over $100 monthly for internet access alone…..I don’t have Comcast tv service.

One Comment

Comcast represents the epitome of incompetence we have come to expect from far too many corporations.

Last week I returned a defective comsuck remote control to exchange for a functioning unit at the local office. I should have objected when the crap-for-brains employee handed me a unit that was not in a sealed bag, but it didn’t show any signs of use.

None of the codes listed for the TV worked so I resorted to attempting to find the code using the search procedure. Each attempt to search for the code required pressing the power and TV button 250 to 300 times, or a total of about 600 time. During the course of the next few days I attempted this FUTILE process 4 times. 2,400 buttons pushed. It was apparent the slovenly, brainless comsuck employee had given me a defective remote which was undoubtedly returned by another customer.

Not surprisingly the sealed bag remote I picked up yesterday was capable of being programmed for my TV in a few minutes. The new remote had the same design as the old remote but with different programming codes and a different instruction manual.

I then noticed BOTH instructions I received from Cansuck (2007 and 2009) incorrectly informed the hapless customer how to program the units !! How was this possible, except for a inefficient and clueless corporation such as Comsuck.

The color-tri fold guide I received when service was installed in 2007 INCORRECTLY informed users to press the POWER as the final procedure of the code search, rather than the set-up button. The instructions that came with the new remote failed to reference that final step in the section regarding direct entry of codes, however they do inform user to press the SET UP button as the final step if you use the code search process.

This MISinformation is also provided on-line by the comcast buffoons. The link below is pdf format.

Under PROGRAMMING DEVICE CONTROL, step 6, there is NO reference to pressing Set Up button after you have entered the correct code which turns off the device you are attempting to program. Under SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE they provide correct information. 6) Press Setup once to lock the code. The TV will blink twice.
