what’s a libertarian to do?

My last entry, Driving While Talking, made a few very good points. I have to say they’re very good points, as I came up with them. If I didn’t think they were good points, there would be very little point in putting them up here, would there?
Point 1: too many idiots drive while distracted, for whatever reason
Point 2: driving while distracted is illegal
Point 3: anti cell phone laws are invasive, as well as redundant
The politician who proposes legislation gets publicity and looks good because it makes him look like he’s doing something positive. To people with live brain cells (all 100 of us), it’s knee-jerk legislation.
So what’s a quasi-libertarian to do?
If I were Ron Paul, I’d probably start by killing auto registration. Then I’d declare cell phone legislation redundant. I’d probably instruct the enforcement department to ignore people with cell phones unless they were driving in an unsafe manner. Much like the legal limit for alcohol, it’s not a matter of how high the number; it’s whether you’re impaired.
That having been said, I’d shoot DUIs on sight. Then try them.
