quantum gender?

I was reading something the other day about quantum particles. Before you say `Oh, quantum particles, is it?’ I freely admit that I don’t understand half of what I read and won’t retain a quarter of it. I’m not getting all posh on you (sorry, too much British tv).
Apparently quantum particles have three states: off, on, and both.
I figure this must mean all quantum particles are female.
