ufo hunters - the show

I’ve managed to catch a few of these shows, starring none other than Bill Birnes, publisher of UFO Magazine and co-author of The Day After Roswell.

Birnes will never win an Oscar for his acting.  In fact, a more appropriate award would be a rock or perhaps a piece of wood.  That aside, I’m still 50-50 on this show.

The big negative is the huge buildup.  The positive is that I’m learning things I didn’t know before relating to the specific cases.

I just got done watching the episode on implants with foot surgeon Roger Leir.  If you are planning to watch this, I’m about to spoil it, so stop reading now (if you haven’t already).

Just the facts, ma`am:

an implant moved as they tried to remove it
it was magnetic
it output frequencies around 32MHz and 10GHz (until removed)
electron microscopy showed it was largely iron
the body did not try to dispose of it
there was tissue growing around the implant

The `scientist’ (thank heavens it wasn’t Shermer) concluded that since the implant was largely iron, it wasn’t all that significant.

Speaking as a non-scientist, I think the facts are extremely interesting.  They do not prove the implants are of extraterrestrial origin.  But they do raise all sorts of legitimate questions.

I’m a radio/scanner/shortwave listener, so the fact that the implant was transmitting was extremely significant.  The choice of frequencies is most interesting: 32MHz is the very beginning of the VHF band and 10GHz is all the way up there in the radio astronomy range.  If I understand correctly, anything in the GHz range is Very directional.  Think of the satellite dish - it has to be pointed at the satellite to receive.  It’s not like sticking a piece of wire up in the air.

With current technology, I can’t imagine these devices developing enough output to travel that far, so I have to assume whatever is on the receiving end is mighty sensitive.

Many questions, few answers.
