Last night I was privileged to hear our president speak.
By privileged, I mean the speech came on the radio after I got out of the shower. I can think of no better place to signify the importance of a presidential address than the sanctity of one’s own bathroom. (you can tell where this is going)
You have to give the president credit - he’s pretty honest (especially when he’s lying). This administration tends to do quite a but more than others right out in the open. By now, they realize that the American public is indeed what they hoped for: a bunch of sheep with questionable comprehension, if not a total lack of intellect.
The leader guy wasted no time in attacking what he feels is the other political party. The beauty of it is that he did it in prosaic leader guy-type tones, blaming them for threatening the security of the country and denying the administration the `tools’ they need to keep us `safe.’
To what was he referring? One of his draconian surveillance acts was expiring and he wasn’t able to strong-arm his lapdogs into renewing it. Imagine that - the NSA not having carte blanche to spy on any communication of any American. My goodness - they’d actually have to spy on Americans illegally! And they’d never do that, would they?
Furthermore, this lovely piece of … ummm… legislation…. would also grant immunity for the telcos and everyone else who has assisted in the treasonous act of spying on Americans without due process. Now the leader guy’s friends could be in danger of actual legal process for their complicity. And this is before the (il)legalities of their actions has been completely determined.
I am not one to say nice things about congresscritters, but I have to hand it to the dissenters in this case - they stood their ground and are to be congratulated. For once, somebody in office stood up to unconstitutional actions.
All in all, the leader guy was semi-called on his actions and deserves to stew in them (while in jail, awaiting trial on treason).

If I understand this correctly they are also asking for proactive immunity for any illegal spying on us in the future.
When I hear someone defend this kind of stuff as patriotic my head does a sort of involuntary bobble-head hyper-eye-roll kind of thing.
I think that dang constitution wants us to just surrender to the terrorists.
