it’s ok, they’re here to HELP us….

My wife is on Disability.
To help save a few dollars, she’s looking into a Medicare substitute. She finally managed to get Aetna on the phone today to go over the specifics:
the plan covers meds, with copay, up to $2400.
After $2400, you pay EVERYTHING up to $3850.
After $3850, meds are covered with a 5% copay.
Are [...]

brief medical rant

Heaven forbid you have a not-too-common disorder, illness, or mental condition. The medical system is not a very open-minded organization as a whole.
The doctor I used to work for poo-pooed chiropractors. It is only recently that chiros became covered by insurance.
My wife has fibromyalgia. Most docs will tell you it doesn’t exist.

a quandary….

I come down the steps to find the tv on. This is not odd in our house, even when there are no bipeds about. My wife `leaves the tv on for the pets.’ Thus far they have expressed no preference for channel. I suspect the cat monitors what the dog watches [...]

the appliance whose name shall not be spoken

Work has some old SNAP server, long since decommissioned. We were sold a bill of goods on this particular (alleged) server, more correctly referred to as a storage appliance. It was never supported well by the mfgr and was a real nightmare for many reasons, the first being some bizarro linux rights implementation [...]

things I learned watching tv….

I have discovered that one in three men will face prostate problems. I don’t know about you but I’m not that flexible.
Furthermore, if you don’t take care of your prostate, you’ll have trouble with your lycopenis. (listen up, wimmen!)

alien accents

Now *here’s* something you don’t often think about… aliens who can do regional impersonations. Can’t you just see one of those buggers doing an Alabama drawl?
They probably sit around in their ships, during down time, and do impersonations of Ted Kennedy. Even on THEIR planet, he’s funny.
I was wondering what they’d sound [...]

sony baloney

Last year I parted with some cash because I needed a car stereo that played cd’s and had an aux input so I could plug my Treo in and listen to podcasts.
Since I’m a fan of pain, I went to Best Buy. Best Buy is famous because… well… because there are so many of [...]
