Well, it is Q3 of 2008, and we have several touch screen phones across all of the major networks. Verzion has the LG Voyager, LG Dare, and Samsung Glyde. AT&T has the iPhone 3G, and the LG Vu. Sprint has the Samsung Instinct. T-mobile, is getting the HTC G1. Alltel has the glimmer. You, as a consumer, have a lot to choose from. Over the last few weeks, I have looked at many review of all of these phones, by popular phone sites, and by people like me on Youtube. I am now going to give you my verdict, of what I think you should get. Please do look at all of these phones for yourself, do just use my opinion for you buying guide.
First up is if you have Alltel’s Glimmer. When I first saw this phone, I was amazed. It looked like a nice iClone, but with a sliding number pad. From what I have heard, this is a good phone. The only problem I can see, is that there is no QWERTY keypad. It also has a glorified WAP browser, compared to the standard HTML. So I only recommend this phone to someone who wants Alltel, or want a plain old touch screen, with a number pad.
Next is for anyone who has AT&T, or wants it. I have had a bad past with the iPhone 3G. I am not going to say I loved it, or hated it. I am going to recommend this only because of what I have heard about it. Now the LG Vu is a touch screen phone, with no QWERTY keypad, or number pad. For a plain old touch screen phone, it has a nice UI. Not only that it has AT&T TV, which only works in a few cities, but I have heard, it is excellent.
Sprint has the so called “iPhone Killer”, the Instinct. I have used the Instinct in my local Sprint store, and it is amazing. Not quite an iPhone, but not a Bad iClone. The Sprint Store, and Sprint T.V are cool features, but the long size of it does not appeal to me. So, if your somehow stuck on Sprint, the $129 is a great price for this phone. Get it.
T-Mobile is getting the HTC G1. I was highly speculative of this phone. From the spy shots, to the actual Andriod platform. It is not out yet, but from the videos I have seen. This is my second choice for a phone. The Andriod OS is amazing, the Sidekick-like QWERTY keyboard looks nice. The trackball, and touchscreen methods of input are great. If I had T-Mobile, I would totally get this phone.
Finally is Verizon Wireless. This is my personal phone company. They have 3 major touch screen phones. First up is the LG Voyager. This phone is a touch screen on the outside. On the inside is a regular screen, with a full QWERTY keyboard. The touch screen is very responsive, and the keyboard is great to type on. This is my first choice for a phone. Next up is the LG Dare. I have used this phone in person, and it is nice. The only problem I have with it, that the Dare is fat. Finally is the Samsung Glyde. I am getting this phone for it’s design. With the slide out QWERTY keyboard, and its widescreen touch screen. I have heard that the screen is not responsive at times, but I am willing to risk it.
Well that is about it. Please, as I have said, check out all of these phones for yourself. Follow me on Twitter for my latest updates.
