How do you feel about gay rights?

This is a post for you to comment on. If you comment states your opinion and doesn’t target individuals and isn’t offensive, it will be approved.

This is just a type of discussion for your feelings on topics like gay marriage, gay adoption rights, etc… everything that relates to equality for all people.

To get started, I’ll put my feelings. I am an openly gay male, so I am not ashamed to say that I want rights for me and whoever I choose to live the rest of my life with. I just feel like I should be given the same rights as everyone else. And it hurts to know that people are voting on your rights to marry. How would you feel if I got to vote for your right to marry? Gay people cannot choose the life they live. The discrimination faced is horrible and knowing that people who you don’t know and who don’t know you hate you before you even meet them.

Homosexuals do in fact have the same rights as everyone else. They have the right to Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and their rights under the constitution are protected. They have the right to free speech and everything else that is defined in the Bill of Rights.

What they are looking for is ‘Special Rights’. If a homosexual man wants to get married then he may do so just like every other man but marriage is defined as one man and one woman. I know you won’t like this, but it is the way God made it. He created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

This I am sure will be considered Hate Speech to some but I don’t hate anyone I just don’t like people destroying the foundation and principals this country was founded on.

Since you asked for comments, I will. I am not in favor of gay rights. I feel they are an extension above and beyond the normal rights we all enjoy.

Let me say before anyone reads further, I will not bash, hate, fear or ridicule you. I have nothing to hide. I am a born-again Christian. There are several Biblical laws that forbid the gay lifestyle. The Bible (old testament and new) is very clear on this issue. I am not judging- God did that for us. I’m simply believing that He knows more than I ever will. God doesn’t hate you either. He loves you, but He does not love sin. Any sin, regardless of what the sin is. I have met people that have said they were delivered from being gay. I believe it is a choice, just like adultery or drug use or being kind is a choice. There may or may not be a “genetic disposition” toward becoming gay, but that doesn’t negate the fact that it is still a choice. All humans suffer temptations with lust in one form or another. I can give in to my lusts or I can conquer those lusts. The choice is mine. Some lusts can’t be beaten in our own strength. We need the delivering power of the Lord. I am living proof of God’s delivering power from alcohol and lust. And I can’t praise Him enough for His love and help.

I don’t treat anyone that is gay any differently than anyone else. You don’t deserve to be hated. You deserve to be given the truth that Jesus died to forgive you and He loves you just as much as any other of us sinners. Yes, I am a sinner too. The only difference between us is that I have asked Christ to save me from my sin and lead me in His ways.

I hope you can read this post in the way it was intended. I am not angry. I’m not “homophobic” (I don’t fear gay people). I have no malice, just concern for your eternal soul.

It’s not really “Special Rights” They just want the same privileges of straight people. Since you pointed out that it is in fact religious, the government should not be able to legislate whether its legal or not. The church should be the only one with that right because of separation of church and state. However, if you want the government to get involved, they can’t use religion whatsoever in the basis of the law because of the same reason. You can’t use both. It’s one or the other. This country was founded on christian beliefs yes, but not everyone in the country is christian. That would be like forcing all families to celebrate Christmas even if they aren’t christian. It is forcing your beliefs on someone else. But I guess you could say that is the Christian way… Not to be mean to anyone, but historically that really is the Christian way.

People are entitled to their own religion. The Government promises us this. That being said, the government CANNOT create laws banning something BASED ON RELIGION. It is very un-constitutional. Using religion to ban gay marriages is pathetic. How many straight people get married and actually UNDERSTAND the “religious” aspect of it? How many straight married couples turn out to be horrible parents? Why should two gay people not have the opportunity to adopt children? Why should two gay people who love each other not have the right to get married? The government is being un-constitutional, plain and simple. Who cares what our nation was founded on? They promised us freedom of religion, but only Christians can have true rights. Think about that…
