The keyboard on the iPhone is incredible. It auto corrects words perfectly vast majority of the time. It has adaptive text which is usually spot. But, it is not perfect. There is a bug somewhere in the software that makes it lag when you start typing, and it usually catches up, no problem. Everyone who has one has talked about this and is annoyed by it. I have another problem with mine, that I have seen before, but no one seems to mention it. It is the iPhone just lagging behind horribly bad. It takes its sweet time and takes about 1 second for each key press. It recognizes where my fingers have been and keeps typing, but its just so annoying! And to make it go away, you have to clear all the text you have entered (which takes just as long) and go home, wait a second, then go back into SMS. I really do wish that Apple would fix this. I really was hoping it would be fixed in 2.0.1. If anyone else has this problem, let me know.
