Update: “How to delete applications in Mac OS X”

I just updated my version of AppDelete. I found out that you actually are forced to donate money in order to use it. It’s not an annoyance to you by popping up and counting down until you can use the program. It actually just won’t let you use the program until you actually donate 5 dollars. My advice to any of you, find an older version that doesn’t do this. It will work just fine. I mean, I know that he just wants money for his work, but he shouldn’t force it upon you. That will make people stop using your product!

Hope this helps anyone out there who took my advice and was faced with this.

If you can’t afford to $5.00 to purchase a very useful application, you shouldn’t have a computer. The only other comparable product that is out for Mac is AppZapper and that costs $12.95 and the only thing it does different is it makes a sound when you uninstall a program. I figure $5.00 for a program that I use almost every day, has I try new freeware/shareware, is well worth it.

I didn’t say I couldn’t afford it, I just said that you shouldn’t FORCE it upon people. Also, if he didn’t force it, some people wouldn’t pay, but there are people who love the program and would pay, or possibly pay more than $5. I understand why he would do this, but I think that he went the wrong way of actually doing it.

I used to use AppDelete and was also annoyed by this. Since then I’ve found ‘AppCleaner’  http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/252…) which is free and am very happy with it!

Hi this is Reggie the Developer for AppDelete! :-)

I want to thank you for taking the time to post about my app AppDelete. I also want to apologize for any confusion about the new required donation. While it is true the new version will ask for a payment of $5 after a few uses it was not meant to be misleading or confusing in any way. The new version should give you a few uses first and then tell you a payment is required. I have also had a few comments that I could have used a better word than donation and I have listened to these comments. It was just simply that the word donation was always used so it stuck with the new version…but look out for a 2.0.2 update to improve/correct any issues regarding the update/donation process…

It was a difficult decision to add a charge in the new version and one that I thought about for a long time prior to the change. You can read more about it on the donate page on my website and thank you for your understanding. As for the free alternatives I think you might find AppDelete offers some advantages in performance and I hope that this will justify the small fee of $5 including all future updates. Please email me anytime for further questions and again I do apologize for any confusion. Thank you for your time! :-)

Sincerely,

Reggie Ashworth
