E-Mail:

Hey, did you hear the one about Microsoft?

What has been in the news lately? How about Microsoft, Microsoft, Microsoft. Seem like everybody is talking about what is next for Big M and so let’s talk about Microsoft. Windows 7 and Office 14 are the big buzz words; some people are excited to see what improvements are coming for both applications and really so am I.

I think people are excited to see Windows 7 coming out in the next 2 years; Vista can be compared to Windows ME, which gives Microsoft a black eye of sorts. Vista was created out of band new code from the ground up so it does not surprise me that there have been a lot of issues related to it. I think they should have released the code earlier so more drivers were supported right away. I have heard people say hind sight is 20/20 and I tend to agree. I am cautiously excited about the prospects of Windows 7, if history hold true for Microsoft, Windows 7 will be a far better operating system then Vista. So I hope Microsoft heeds what the public is saying and puts Windows 7 on a diet, we do not need more bloat ware, we need an OS package that will perform. Eye candy is cool when systems can handle it; please make this optional for the next OS.

Office 14 baffles me, why do we need a new Office product? Are there that many people unhappy with Office 2007 that Microsoft needs to make a new one? I am writing this in Word 2007, I do not have any issue with this version of Office. What can they improve on? Good question, possibly the new thing will be modular, not too sure what that will mean but all we have to do is wait and there will be 10-20 websites telling us what will be new.

Enough talking about Microsoft and what they are looking to do in the near future, what are they doing now to help the people who already have their products? I would offer you a few links to visit and read more about both product I have talked about but a quick search on Google will provide you more then enough reading content.

Until next time,

Kineo

Check your sources, Vista is not new code from the ground up. The easiest way to verify that it is not significantly different from XP is to check into the SysInternals site, and look at some of the writings of Mark Russinovich

he probably knows more about the workings of any Windows version than any 4 other people you could find.

Why do we need a new OS? For surfing I have Linux. For business purposes we use OS X. Data is on a Synology (Linux again). So, we are all set.

Thanks Oracle, I did not realize that Vista was just more updated code. I will check out the blog.

I agree with you HMP, I use Linux as much as possible and once they get some better gaming code I will be all set. 8)

good luck with that…
