Is it Too Soon to Talk about Windows 7?

I believe Microsoft really stepped into a pile of goo when they began letting information out about Windows 7. They dropped the ball with Vista and so it seems to me that they are trying to get back into the good graces with everyone by taking the heat off of Vista and focusing more on Windows 7. This is not a good idea, you can’t sell more Vista products and promote a new future OS, it will kill the current sales of Vista. Contrary to popular belief Vista is a good OS if you have a system that can handle it.
So is it too soon to talk about Windows 7? Yes, hasn’t Microsoft learned anything from promoting Vista too soon? The opinion of the public and general technical industry grew tired of hearing about Vista, so will we all become tired of hearing about Windows 7? I for one will be, I do not believe Microsoft is helping themselves by releasing information this early. I look forward to the new feature but what about incompatibilities? Are we just looking forward to a re-skinned Vista? Microsoft has to pay more attention to system requirements this time. Building an operating system with lots of fluff and great visuals is ok but will it perform to the expectations of the general public? Let’s all keep our fingers crossed and hope Microsoft gets it right this time. For now I think it would be better to keep things under wraps until they are in alpha stage.
