Richmond Events Cruise - The Marketing Forum

Myself and a few associates from Portland headed to New York City to participate in The Marketing Forum, hosted by Richmond Events at the end of April. ADi and The New Group joined Anvil Media to represent Portland at The Marketing Forum.

The concept is relatively simple: vendors are matched up with chief marketing officers (CMOs) via algorithm, and we have 25 minutes to “woo” the client-side marketers into understanding our value proposition at The Marketing Forum. The goals is for the CMO to find the latest & greatest marketing vendors, while vendors are able to cost-effectively get in front of the all elusive CMO. Everyone wins… so long as everyone’s head is in the game.

Fortunately, I’ve participated in a similar event before, with some success, and hoped to replicate on the cruise. The Anvil team diligently researched delegates and we put together presentations and materials. The ADi, The New Group and Anvil team met regularly to prepare for the event. I firmly believe the preparation paid off.

Overall, the trip was fantastic. The Richmond Events team was very attentive and interested in making it a positive and productive experience. The meetings went well, as the delegates were well matched based on interests and responsibilities. The meals were also tasty, insightful and entertaining, while still offering an opportunit to connect. One of the best surprises was networking with attendees of the other two Forums (Logistics & HR). In fact, the event was so successful for Anvil Media, that we landed our first client the day after the event, and have many more big opportunities ahead.
