Movers by Moov - A Reliable Portland Moving Company

I have to say that I’m impressed with with Portland’s Movers by Moov. Last fall, we used Moov based on a friend’s recommendation. During the move, the crew were friendly and professional, but managed to damage a few things in the moving process. Initially, the owner discounted the total bill when we informed him that 2 sofas were damaged, a screen door broken and walls scraped up. He also committed to repairing both sofas and the screen door. Within a week or so, someone stopped by and repaired one of our sofas. The second sofa needed new fabric, which had to be ordered. After a few months, we followed up regularly to check in. After awhile, Moov stopped returning our calls. Frustrated at the lack of response regarding the status of our sofa, I turned to what I know: the Web. I wrote a blog post about our negative experience, and posted a few negative reviews. Within a week, we received a call that our fabric had arrived, and two weeks later, our sofa is back and it looks brand new. Andy Sernovitz has a 1-5-10 rule…when someone has a bad experience, they tell 5 people. When the issue is resolved, they tell 10. I’m one of those that would like 10 people to know that Moov made good on their word, even if it took a few months, and even if they didn’t keep us in the loop every step of the way. Regardless, I give Moov a thumbs up.

If at all possible, next time do it your self (like I did) and use PODS.
I packed everything myself over the course of several months, and no damage to speak of.

PODS is a great idea if you have the time to pack, and don’t mind moving everything into & out of storage. We boxed everything ourselves, and nothing broke. It was the furniture (walls and doors) that suffered when they moved the bulky items out of the house and into the truck. If they’d taken a little more time to be careful, we wouldn’t have had a problem, or if they’d made good on their word to repair the damage, we wouldn’t have this issue. Thanks for sharing!

You should notify the Better Business Bureau. Most companies take those complaints very seriously and act to resolve them.

Ken, sorry to hear about your experience. I just got done moving and used Willamette Valley Moving. While the guys were a bit rough around the edges, I do recommend them highly. They were fast, thorough and there was absolutely no damage to any of my stuff.

You should choose a moving company that has good service, it’s important to hire someone that is known for their services. Moving company usually has moving packages, these packages should help you decide what’s best for you.

Good news! We got a call today from MOOV, letting us know the fabric for our couch is in and they wanted to know when we’d like them to pick it up. I don’t know if this blog post had anything to do with it, but they appear to be interested in making good after ignoring our inquiries for a month or so. I’ll keep you updated if they follow through.
