At the recent SMX Advanced in Seattle, Anvil Media’s own Leisa Hall posed a question to Google’s Matt Cutts: does he feel like he’s search engine marketing’s (SEM) moral compass? Although it wasn’t attributed to Leisa or Anvil, it did generate a few laughs and hearty post-event discussion. Even if the initial question about being Google’s moral compass was meant somewhat in gest, Matt Cutts took it very seriously, which is a good indicator that he may be the man for the job. I wanted to make sure Leisa got full credit for the “moral compass of search” question, and that we not forget Cutts has a new set of responsibilities at Google.
