820 Bar - Losing a Mint Via Shortsighted Management

I’ve shared my unpleasant dining experiences in the past (Bill’s Tavern on the Oregon Coast comes to mind), but I was taken aback this week by treatment I received from 820’s management. I moved my monthly networking event, pdxMindShare, to 820 bar (affiliated with Mint) this summer. Over the past few months, an average of 30 people networked while sipping Lucy’s famous libations. The monthly revenue and weekly exposure via MindShare’s email list was of undisputed value to 820. Imagine my surprise when I received an *email* from the manager earlier this week informing me that they no longer wanted MindShare at 820. With no explanation and a little over a week to find a new venue, I was not at all pleased to have to scramble. Fortunately, Greg at Paddy’s Bar & Grill was able to be very accommodating for upcoming events. I’m not sure if pdxMindShare will stay at Paddy’s long-term, but I do know I can’t support an establishment like 820 based on my experience.

Wow. Hard to believe that you had that experience with 820 Mint. I have never eaten there, but my wife Nicole has and she always said the food and service was good. That is surprising that they would make a move like that without explanation. I am sorry that you had that experience.
Look at the consequence of their decision. I am finding this message out, how many others will also? If word gets out, don’t be surprised if you get a personal phone call from the owner of the restaurant with either an explanation, inviting you back in, or perhaps free or discounted meals. In my experience spending thousands of dollars for sales training meals, I can assure you that I have been received compensation for bad service. 99% of the time the experience is good, but why is it, that the one bad example sticks in our minds so much?
