In 1999, I created pdxMindShare to help connect talented individuals with each other…whether they were employed or not. Since then, pdxMindShare has grown significantly, with well north of 3,000 email subscribers receiving weekly updates including Portland-area jobs and networking events. MindShare hosts its monthly networking event 5:30 p.m. every third Wednesday of the month (currently at Mint’s 820), but it’s retained the intimacy of the original gatherings. Although the email and events are free to Portland area professionals, pdxMindShare has supported itself financially through annual and newsletter sponsorships, as well as small commissions from recruiting companies if they hire from the MindShare subscriber list. With that moderate funding, Anvil Media is pleased to announce a brand new Web 2.0 MindShare Web site, slated to launch in early January. Visitors will be able to view current job postings and upcoming events while registered users will be able to create a profile, upload a resume, post events and participate in the forum, powered by Jive Software. Thanks to 3 Hound Design for their hard work on the new MindShare Web site. Earlier in 2007, marketing guru Seth Godin recognized the genius of MindShare’s business model, which we’re very proud of.
