Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel - A Royal Treat

My family and I just completed the first leg of our annual vacation at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii. We spent three days at the four star resort, taking advantage of off-peak rates and world-class accommodations. The Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel is located on the infamous Hapuna Beach, complete with a championship golf course and massive pool. The staff is some of the friendliest we’ve experienced, and the food is not a disappointment. While the weather gave us hiccups (a brief thunder storm only a week after fires caused evacuations of the area) the well-appointed rooms and vast facilities make the stay painless in the worst of conditions. A brief morning run on the beach followed by excessive helpings at the morning breakfast buffet set one up for an ideal day at poolside sipping drinks between laps. During our brief stay on the Big Island, we did manage to make a quick trip to downtown Kona (for a disappointing meal at The Hard Rock Cafe). Next stop: Maui. Look for updates coming your way soon.

Why do you call Hapuna Beach ‘infamous?’
Was it the scene of some ghastly murders that are famous, yet I’ve never heard of?
In fact, it’s the HOTEL that out to be described as infamous. Hapuna beach was once a pristine park unsullied by commercial depredations. Now, thanks to the hotel, there are way more people on the beach and a big-ass ugly building up on one side of it.
And the Hard Rock Cafe? Why do you even bother going to Kona? You could have stayed home and done the same thing.
Next time, try renting a locally owned vacation home and going to locally owned restaurants where you can actually experience something of the real hawaii, not this generic anti-culture that gets plopped down in cookie-cutter fashion at all the major tourist spots so that people can feel at home wherever they go.
