8.29 - HairM Charity Golf Tournament at Langdon Farms

For the second year in a row, I elected to take a half day off work to do something I’m not very good at: golf. It was for a good cause though: Oregon’s Make-A-Wish Foundation. The HairM Charity Golf Tournament, in its third year, was a hit with everyone involved, especially Make-A-Wish Foundation.

HairM is Portland’s haven for men that enjoy being pampered by beautiful women skilled in the arts of hair cuts, manicures and massage, all while watching ESPN and drinking a beer. As a customer, I can vouch for the unique and wonderful HairM experience.

The afternoon started out with check check-in, where you could purchase a variety of goodies, including a car wash and detail (while you golfed). After fueling up and warming up the clubs, we wheeled off to the links for a “best ball” scramble tournament. At each hole, one of the talented HairM employees provided a wide variety of complimentary services: massages, neck trims, contests and general socialization. It made the afternoon entertaining and enjoyable, which was good considering I forgot to bring my golf game with me.

After a 3 under round, our team retired to the Langdon Farms barn for a yummy Mexican meal and silent auction. We also heard from a Make-A-Wish Foundation recipient before moving into the raffle. Through a lucky shot on the sixth hole and winning raffle ticket, I ended up with a pocket full of gift certificates good towards my next HairM visit. I’m already planning my massage and facial, let alone golf lessons for next year.
