Who is Kat?
So you want to know more about the Kitty, eh? Let’s get the basics out of the way first. My ‘real’ name is Kathie Armstrong, but I’ve been called Kat longer than I can remember. On the rare occasion someone calls me Kathie… I don’t answer immediately. I have to almost remember that’s my name! I’m 37 years old, and live in central Indiana with my gorgeous 13 year old, Beka. She’s in the 8th grade, and a cheerleader at her new school. I also have a beautiful 19 year old, Ashley, who lives nearby. Ash is getting married to her long-time sweetheart, Adam, in September 2008! Only a few weeks away, and I’ll be ‘giving away’ my daughter. Ash and Adam are parents to my amazing and perfect granddaughter, Jenna Rose. Jenna is 15 months old right now, and the absolute love of my life. Who knew being a Gramma is so wonderful?
I began my tech journey nearly six years ago, when my computer became crippled with malware. I joined a site called Spywareinfo to get help cleaning it up, and haven’t looked back. I went through their malware removal training program, and quickly became a staff member. Within a year, I had branched out to helping at other sites, including my ‘home’… GeeksToGo. In April of 2005, I became a site Administrator there, a position I still hold.
In 2005, I was awarded as a Microsoft MVP in the area of Windows Security for all the work I’ve done on forums like GeeksToGo. I have been re-awarded every year since. I was finally able to attend the MVP Summit in Seattle this year, which was an amazing experience.
During my time with G2G, I became active on the WyldRyde IRC Network. It is there that I became indirectly acquainted with Chris Pirillo. In July of 2007, Chris’ last assistant approached me, and asked if I was interested in taking his place. After speaking one-on-one with Chris, I accepted. Finally… my dream of working from home came true. After more than a year with Chris and Ponzi, I am happier than ever. I am responsible for many things, including ghost writing on Chris’ blog, ghost writing on his many Lockergnome blogs, helping to administrate the Lockergnome site, uploading his videos, and much more. He keeps me busy, and I love every single minute of it.
I love to read, write, listen to music, go fishing, go camping, and just hang out with my family. If there’s anything more you ever want to know about me, all you have to do is ask.
