Sittin’ Around

Joe has always told me that the way I relax is by working.  Maybe that is true in a sense because I am generally busy with some little project from my to-do list.  In my last post I said I wasn’t a "sitter arounder".  Today I totally retract that statement because that is exactly what I did all day today.  We had an all day rain here so we couldn’t go for the long motorcycle ride we had planned.  It was a little chilly outside too so it really, really, really felt good to hunker down on the couch with a good classic movie playing (The Farmer’s Daughter with Loretta Young).  I will admit that I was doing some crocheting (not knitting!!) while watching the movie so I wasn’t totally idle.

Most people don’t like rainy days but I do.  There are lots of good indoor things to do on a rainy day, like it’s a great day to bake cookies or work a jigsaw puzzle or work on a craft or type up a post or (my personal favorite) read a book.  Yes, you can also get another item done off your to-do list.  For me being snug inside your home when it is nasty outside, be it rain or snow, has always given me a warm, cozy, secure feeling.  Kind of like I’m isolated inside a safe cocoon.

Anyway, I hope where ever you are today, you thoroughly enjoyed it.  Now I think it is time for me to get moving.  Maybe I’ll see if I can’t install my Wii.  Hmmmm, no maybe I’ll just pick up my Louse Hay book again and munch on some oatmeal raisin cookies.

Welcome to the club Judy!!!! I think that you will enjoy blogging. I know I do, I have a few!! I will be back to read more.

I would have to agree with you on rainy days. The problem here is we haven’t had any this summer :)

We’re about a foot below normal rainfall as it stands, but there are clouds in the sky today and I’m hopeful.

Have a great rest of the week!

Hi Judy! I’m Kat.. and I do the video uploading and writing for Chris. I came over to get a link to your blog, and lost myself reading… forgetting I was supposed to be working. I love your sense of humor and writing style. You seem to write like I do in my blog here. I write for ME, not for everyone else.

We also have something else in common. I have a lot of trouble being “idle”, as well. Yet, on those rainy days (or even a sunny one every once in awhile) it’s nice to just relax for a day with a good book, or some old movies. We just moved this past weekend, and I had no internet until this afternoon. It was actually wonderful to curl up with the girls in the evenings with popcorns and old VHS movies we love. I don’t get much ‘alone time’, as I’m a single mom (and grandma!!!). What little I do have, I try to take full advantage of to get some “down time” as you described.

I’ll definitely be checking in more often with you. It’s great to “meet” you here… and I look forward to meeting in person next year at Gnomedex. :)

Kat

I couldn’t agree with you more ! I never feel better than when I am home. As Dorothy said so well “There’s no place like home”.
The fires, the droughts …….days like today the world feels so unbalanced that home feels better than ever.
People laugh but my favorite book is “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith. I read it at least once a year and it just takes me away. I am in the midst of Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and it has helped me so much.
Chocolate chip cookies warm out of the oven would be good right now.
Take care.

Hi Judy - your son Chris sent me here and I really hope that he is not the Christopher who does not know who Louise Hay is - tell him to check out HayHouse.com or Hay House radio on the net.

BTW - If you like rainy days, you should be living up here where Chris is now calling home (you would have waaaay too many days to read, bake cookies, do puzzles, etc.) You might even turn into a geek!

You have my best wishes - and keep up your blogging!
