I was one of those people who had said “why upgrade?” I liked Windows Vista; it simply worked for me. There were people said that I obviously didn’t do anything with my computer. Well that’s not true. I did do a lot with Windows Vista, and I have to say it worked. There were occasionally a few programs that would simply not install with Windows Vista. For example TeamViewer worked fine with Windows XP, but not Vista.
Yesterday, I got Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I performed a clean install, and guess what? Everything worked flawlessly. It took about twenty minutes to format and install. Started up, had all of my drivers within all of the updates that were needed. Installed them, and like I said, it all just worked!
First impressions of Windows 7 were great. It was clean! The taskbar looks absolutely fantastic! The new and improved start menu looks great, and I really love the new system tray. Everything just looks excellent.
I couldn’t believe I put up so many arguments against 7 and why I wanted to just stick with Vista. Compared to 7 Vista was horrible, even if it somewhat worked for me. Resource wise, the RAM usage has been incredibly improved. The entire time while using 7 (and I’ve been using it a lot these past two days) the maximum amount of RAM I have reached is around 2.3 GB out of my total 4 GB. That’s much better than Vista. Running some programs on 7 I am at a total usage of say 2.3 GB and on Vista I would have been around at least 3 GB. So overall it’s better.
For those of you who are still on Vista and are debating whether or not to upgrade, my advice is this. Do it! You will be very happy with yourself. I didn’t think I would appreciate it as much, but I do. Everything just runs smoother and better. When people say it was what Vista should have been, it really is. The interface is just overall better and easier to use.
So if you’re on Vista, get Windows 7. That’s all I can say.

I actually im using vista but to do a clean install i must do a huge backup first. I never liked the idea of updating windows without formatting, but it will work the same? can i do it or should i do a backup and format it?

If I were you I would always to a backup then a clean install. Thats the best thing to do with Windows right next to buying a new computer with Windows 7 already pre-installed on it
