Whey protein has got to be the best thing made since sliced bread. I have found (and many others) that it is an essential part of my post workout recovery. Whey protein is very quickly broken down which is very important when it comes to post workout. You need nutrients to be transferred to your muscles as soon as possible. After a workout you have what is often referred to as the “golden hour.” That being the time frame in which nutrients are most readily transferred and absorbed by your muscles for repair (building muscle)
If you are going to supplement anything for body building I would highly recommend whey protein!
