Tron Legacy

Slated for a 2010 release the dazziling display of lights and sound represent the new Tron film - Tron Legacy, an updated sequel to the 1982 cult classic - Tron.

Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Kevin Flynn a computer program engineer in the original Tron film. The plot in the original film is admittedly somehwhat complicated. Critics lambasted the original for not having enough character and plot development. Nevertheless, Tron represents the first film that used computer generated textures and lighting to make a dazziling CGI display for its period. Tron made a small profit. Tron’s production cost was seventeen million dollars. Despite it’s limited box office receipts Tron’s cult following continues to live on in games, comic books and more. Tron managed to snag two awards at the Motion Picture Academy Awards — one for costume development. Though many of the major studio exectuives rejected the idea of a computer generated movie, Walt Disney Studios were impressed after screening a serial of what would later become a classic movie.

Tron Legacy

The new trailer for Tron Legacy is a major technological achievemnent in lighthing and sound. The updated Light Cycles gives new meaning to computer imagery.

Music

“Electronic music duo Daft Punk will be composing the film score. At the time of the 2009 Comic-Con, it was revealed they have composed 24 tracks for the film. When Kosinski was asked why he decided to have Daft Punk to do the film score, he replied, ‘How could you not at least go to those guys?’ The song Separate Ways by Journey will also be featured in the film.”

Tron Legacy

Tron Legacy is directed by Joseph Kosinski. This movie will undoubtedly appear in the 2010 summer release line-up. Exact release dates have not yet been disclosed.
