Geocaching. What is it? Geocaching is the art of finding a repository of hidden goodies all around the world. Using global positioning satellite (GPS) devices the geocacher can find, trade, or create his/her own cache for others to find. I tried geocaching. Here are some tips that you might not read or hear about for first time adventureres. Bring rain gear. The cache can be in a remote location even in a big city environment. Bring a pen. A writing instrument mysteriously may not be in the cache you find. It’s not necessary to bring replacement items unless the cache requires it. The main tools for a geocacher is a GPS unit. Dedicated GPS systems will provide more terrain features but phone and car GPS systems can be used. Sometimes it’s possible to drive to a hidden cache.
The Geocaching website is where you’ll get your coordinates. Plug in your zip code. More detail information can be had by using information by State and country.
