800,000 iPhones in Production, Weekly

The iPhone 3G was highly anticipated by tons of iPhone users and users who wanted to get in on the iPhone craze.  I have been hearing different opinions on the new iPhone; those who are not technologically adept say it is amazing, while those who understand technology says that it is absolute crap.  That is why I was surprised to see that Foxconn is producing up to 800,000 iPhones per week to supply the demand.

Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics giant that produces the iPhone 3G for Apple, has ramped up production to 800,000 units per week, says a source close to Apple with direct knowledge of the numbers. This is “above current full capacity” and there may be some concerns with quality control.

When the iPhone 3G originally launched, the very first thing I heard about it was that it was not up to par with the original iPhone in quality.  With Foxconn going “above full capacity” one can only wonder what quality control issues they are going to have with the newly produced iPhones.  It would probably be best to avoid buying a iPhone 3G until the rush is over and Apple is able to get rid of the kinks.

Foxconn predicts that 40 million iPhones will be sold within the first year.  Are you one of those buyers?  I want to hear about your opinions of the new iPhone.

Comments welcome.
