MacBook Touch?

Imagine the power of a MacBook, with the touch-screen capabilities of the MacBook Touch.  The idea is innovative, and would draw in a large user base.  Touch-screen computers are becoming the next ‘it’ when it comes to portable computing.  Apple is one of the few computer giants that does not have a touch screen computer.  Well, they still do not have the touch screen portable computer.  The idea is only a rumor and can neither be confirmed or denied at this point.

So says our source - the same one who tipped us to wireless iTunes Store sales direct to iPod, iPhone a week before Apple debuted it - in staccato fashion:

Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured Multi-Touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion’s haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at “low” price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick shit. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest.

After owning a HP tablet PC for about six months, the idea of a touch screen laptop scares me.  HP was not able to successfully implement the idea.  However, Apple already has the technology, the iPod Touch.  If they can duplicate it on a larger scale, I think they will have a very good product.

Would you buy a MacBook Touch?  I am interested in your opinions.
