Polar Bears and Global Warming

With the melting of the polar icecaps, we do not only see a rise in sea levels but we face the possible extinction of one of the most marvelous mammals in the world.

Polar bears are uniquely adapted to survival in the Arctic. They are the world’s largest land predator, feeding mainly on seals.

They use the sea ice as a floating platform to catch prey and they travel across it on their way to their dens.

Link: Polar Bears Extinct in 100 years

As the icecaps melt, the polar bears have to travel further in the water to get prey and bring it back to their dens.  The bears need to consume seal fat in order to survive the cold winters; this means that as the icecaps get smaller, there are more polar bears in a given area and competition arises.  Their entire lifestyle relies on the icecaps.

If we do not start changing how we do things, we are going to cause other species to become extinct.  There are some very small changes you can make in your life to ‘go green’.  These changes may be small, but they will accomplish a lot.

This is crazy BS. The polar bear population is DOUBLE what it was in 1979. DOUBLE. The decision to place them on the endangered species list was based on projections from junk data entered into a computer model. They omitted periods of cooling, which skewed the projections. The Earth has been moderately cooling since 1998. Holy crap, idiots…. get your heads out of NPR and Socialist propaganda machines and read some real data from scientists… not activists. There is an open $500,000 prize waiting for any scientist (or Al Gore) that can PROVE– with science– that Global Warming exists. NO ONE has stepped forward to even TRY.
