Honey Can Sweeten Your Day

After a long night partying, you may wake up the next morning with a fairly nasty headache.  However, there is one thing that most people have in their pantry that can help lessen the effects of the so called ‘next day hangover‘.

If you have a little bit of honey before or after drinking (maybe on a cracker of a piece of bread) you can possibly prevent a horrid headache the next morning.  How can such a sweet treat save the day you ask?

Here is the scientific answer:

Honey contains fructose, which competes for the metabolism of the alcohol that you have (or will have) ingested.  The fructose absorption allows the alcohol to stay in your system longer (it slows the rate at which your body can metabolize it).  This means that you will not suffer through such bad ‘withdrawals’ when you wake up the next morning.

Anything with fructose will help.  Tomato juice is a great source of fructose.
