Digsby — The New Multi-Protocol Instant Messaging Client

Recently, someone sent me a link to Digsby, a new multi-protocol instant messaging program. After using the program for over a week, I have decided to do a little review on it.

The client allows for connections from aim, msn, icq, yahoo, jabber and gtalk. It even allows multiple connections from each network. The client also integrates social networking and email into itself. You can get notifications when you have email on your gmail, yahoo and MSN accounts. You can also get notifications from your Twitter feed, Facebook and Myspace accounts.

The client is highly customizable (for those of you who like iChat’s bubble type conversations, they are available). My favorite feature, however, is the fact that someone can send me a message and if I do not have the window on top, I can see what they say (through a small pop up on the lower right hand side of my screen).

The program starts off with large icons, which drive me insane. But after tinkering with the program for awhile — I have gotten everything to my liking. It is definately better than Trillian, which I find to be very slow. However, I am not quite sure if it is better than Miranda. Only time will tell.
