The Golden Compass - Movie Review

I saw The Golden Compass on Friday night. I haven’t read the book yet, however I was very impressed with the movie. There were a few cheesy parts in it. However, over all the movie was fantastic. There was action, drama and great CGI.

The movie is about two hours long, and it has a Lord of the Rings I type ending. However, that is because there are three books to the series! At some point the movie had to cut off, in order to leave room for the next book to take over. I am planning on reading all three books in the net few months (definitely before the next movie comes out).

If you are a fan of the fantasy type movies I suggest this movie. It can be a bit hard to follow if you have never read the books, however if you pay attention in the beginning you will be fine.

Last week, I made a post about the potential anti-god theme in this movie. However, after watching the movie I did not see any anti-god themes. If you really look into the movie, you might be able to pick up some anti-god themes (maybe from the other books?). However, this is a movie. It is fantasy. No one is saying that by going to the movie you have to believe in what it may or may not be talking about. There is no way that a teenager would be able to pick up any anti-god themes out of this book. Unless someone told them to think about it during the entire movie and watch only for that theme and nothing more.

Go see the movie. Enjoy it. It is a great watch!
