What Will Santa Bring You? A Taser?

Would you like a taser for christmas? TASER, which manufactures and sells tasers for personal use, law enforcement and military use is using our friendly neighborhood Santa Claus as a marketing ploy. Their marketing campaign is clever however I think it may be sending the wrong message to not only adults, but children as well.
“What will Santa bring you, when you have been good but the world is getting bad?”
While I am sure that not many children look at this website the message is still wrong. Tasers are fairly dangerous and can cause many issues (as we have seen in the news recently). I agree that some people should have tasers, they are great for self defense and they are easier and easier to use.
However, with the product getting a new look and becoming easier and easier to use, I think that the youth will start looking towards tasers as an alternative to pepper spray.
I vote not to stuff your family’s stockings with tasers this holiday season.

Imagine this: You unwrap your new Christmas taser and are either very excited or very concerned… Either way, you probably want to try it out to see what it REALLY does. Now, even if they are proximally handy, you aren’t going to try it on your spouse or child. However, you might just try it on 1) the family pet (not likely, but just sayin’…), 2) one of your drinking buddies (very likely), 3) that semi-feral cat that the neighbors belong to, 4) anyone who will “volunteer” (like your little brother).
My point is that someone should alert emergency rooms and vet clinics of this marketing push so the number of “test subjects” can be tracked….

..and not only that. WHat is stopping the ‘bad’ eliments from buying this and zapping a victim enough to rob him without killing him. We guise selling guns as personal protection. And look what it has done ! Now this. Ofcourse this is better than the gun getting into wrong hands. But still, imagine a careless parent letting this into his kids hands who think it will be a hoot to zap his friends at school.
I strongly feel that guns and tazers should be sold just to the police and the army. But who is to listen?
