Smart Humans and Neanderthal Humans?

“Oliver Curry, an evolutionary psychologist at the London School of Economics, thinks two subspecies will emerge: a tall, slim, intelligent privileged class, and a short, squat, ugly, dim-witted race of servants. If that sounds remarkably like what H.G. Wells foresaw in “The Time Machine” with his Eloi and Morlocks, that’s because the division of species into slender “gracile” and husky “robust” forms occurs repeatedly in the evolutionary history of higher primates.” (Link)
At this rate, we have less than 1000 years until our new species emerges. While 1000 years may seem like a long time, it is fairly short; according to evolution. If a new, less smart species were to emerge from us (the current definition of a human) then I believe we would have many problems in our society. I can see history repeating itself, with a sort of holocaust again the new species. Or perhaps a revisit to the civil war, and the time of slavery.
Although there is little we can do to stop this (as mutations in our DNA are random, at best). I do not think this is anything that we, as a society need to worry about. Although the new species is set to emerge in less than 1000 years, I do not think the new species will just outright appear. We will probably see small changes in a portion of the Earth’s population. And then those changes will mutate, and thus evolve.
