What’s In A Test

Today was the third of four tests in my Organic Chemistry class. I have to say that I have never studied more for a class in my life. I spent at least three hours a day at the library studying for it, as well as 8 hours the night before, in a study group.

Apparently, the professor who teaches the class thinks that a 60% average is “too high”, so he made an extra hard test in order to lower the average. I understand that tests are supposed to test how well you know a subject, however it is plain wrong to make an extra hard test for the sake of screwing over some of the students. Our tests are 50 minutes long, and when I handed in my test (5 minute after the 50 minutes had ended) there was still 75% of the class (of those who showed up, I am guessing 10% didn’t bother showing up) was still taking the test. It turns out a lot of people did not even finish the exam.

Teachers really need to realize what they are testing for, and that screwing with the students is not a good thing to do. Let’s hope for a big curve!

/rant off, some good content coming soon =)
