Not the Peppy Lepueu I remember

If you have small farm animals, feed or food storage areas outside, then you have probably been confronted with a local critter who is helping themselves to you stuff. I remember learning about this in our shed one night when I went to get some dog food (for the dogs of course) and there was an opossum staring back at me when I turned the light on. He was “really” close before he ran to the back and hid. Whether it is raccoons in your corn or a skunk stealing pretty much anything, these guys can really get to be a pain.
So what do you do? Trap them, shoot them, or use some other form of deterring agent. A “humane” way of dealing with them is to use a live trap. Building and using a box trap is pretty easy. The hard part is what to do when you have actually caught something, especially if it is a skunk!
You could drive the skunk to a house of someone special and let it out there. You could try to keep all these beasties and open a zoo. If you drop it off at some farm or something, keep this in mind, it’ll probably do the same thing to them! If it is a wild animal check into your local services to appropriately deal with this.
Most importantly, do not let it bite or scratch you! It could be rabid, or otherwise dangerous relative to transmission of disease.
