I read an article about a cheap way to beat mosquitoes in the summer. We have heard about the West Nile virus and its potential impact. A summer evening can bring out the best in mosquitoes, as most of us have experienced. There are many ways to reduce bug problems, but one inexpensive way is to use Bats. No not baseball bats but the flying, mouse-looking kind.

An interesting fact is that there are some varieties of bats that consume up to 1000 bugs an hour! Not to go nuts on West Nile, but there were over 4000 cases reported in the US in 2006. It is also known that mosquitoes carry the virus.

To attract bats, heh heh, just build a bat-friendly (dark accessible) space and get batty.
