One of the things a busy nurse hates the most (during his/her shift), is the admission of a new patient. You have to take the time to sit and ask the patient and/or family members a number of questions to put together an information database of the patients health history. I have always said, wouldn’t it be nice if that information was readily available in a centralized location and could be pulled up to obtain he pertinent information needed by the health-care team to care for the patient.
Living in Sarasota Florida, the majority of the hospital population is amongst the 65 and older generation. Many can’t remember the information needed, and you will be surprised at how many of them are admitted to the hospital and have no one available to give the information needed, on their behalf. I am happy to say that Google has introduced Google Health which from what I can tell from using the product; will make the problems of admission for my colleagues and I, a thing of the past.
Google Health allows for the collection and storage of your health-care information. Once stored your information can be updated online by your doctors office or hospital personnel. A simple online form is used to fill in your medical history, medications, allergies doctors offices and hospitals visited. It even will assist you in finding the addresses to your doctor’s offices and using Google Maps will give directions to the office. It can be viewed by anyone you have given permission to view the information or the information can be printed out and taken with your to give to your hospital admitting personnel or doctors office.
After viewing this product, I find that it meets the needs of many of my patient population here in Sarasota, Florida and best of all its free! I know I will be telling all of my patients and their families about Google Health.
