By default Windows 7 opens Windows Explorer in the Libraries folder. Some people may not find this useful and would prefer to have Windows Explorer open to a different location. Personally, I prefer to have Windows Explorer open to the highest directory to show all the drives on my computer.

It’s very easy to change the default directory for Windows Explorer.

1. Right click the Windows Explorer icon on the Start Menu and click Properties. The Windows Explorer Properties dialog box appears.
2. Click the Shortcut tab if it is not already active.
3. In the Target field, type the following: %SystemRoot%explorer.exe /e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}.
4. Click OK.

When you launch Windows Explorer using the shortcut you modified in step 1, the Windows Explorer window shows all the drives on your computer.
