Weed Whacker Tech Vacuum

There should be an image here!We like to think that we live in a world where, when we buy a product, it should work. After all, with today’s latest technology, one would surmise that simple things like a working weed whacker isn’t too much to ask for. Apparently not.

Now let me pass along some background information: I hate yard work. If it wasn’t for the benefit of getting me into the fresh air on the weekends, I’d gravel my entire yard and leave it to the rocks. Grass is simply not worth it, despite my dogs likely feeling differently.

Today, for the umpteenth time, my cheap Black and Decker line trimmer tangled to the degree that re-spooling it was a wasted effort. And this got me to thinking. Why in the world are these stupid line trimmers the only alternative to an oil/gas mixed gas trimmer? I mean one is crap and the other is completely overkill!

Well despite the fact that Google is useless for searching out this kind of thing (problem solving search, anyone?), I found what appears to be the solution. A simple 3-blade system that should fit even my model of trimmer. No tangles, no spooling nightmares. Why isn’t something like this available by default? Kind of an iPhone line of thinking for yard supplies? Perhaps it’s time geeks got into suggesting improvements for yard care products? Because the stuff offered today is just sad.

I tried one of those firm blade replacements. The formed knobs that hold the blade into the rotating continually break off and the blade goes flying away, potentially dangerous. I finally converted back to the string system.

I’ve never had a problem with the string system short of having to replace the strings when my grass is apparently too strong for the strings to withstand and they break quickly.

Never had the bladed system but my guess is that the blades, like the weed whacker itself, will give different results based on manufacturer so I hope you get a good one..

dude-i’ve just come into the house after hours of wasted time because of a junk string system. i use the product once or twice a year. it is broken in so many different areas and today it became a useless POS. the oil/gas type is awesome but too much for my infrequent use. paying someone is more than the time/money of a new oil/gas machine. sooooo, i’m on the way to buy a non string trimmer. overkill, yes, but made for heavy/professional work and should withstand my bi-annual use. it is stupid to continue buying these string systems because “cheap” is becoming expensive.

J Hopes: Would love to know what model/brand you ended up with. I am ready for a change myself.

Good news fellas. Theres a new trimmer head thats in the works that stores several feet of cord ( No Blade System ) and has the 100% garauntee that it will never jam or tangle in its entire service life. In fact, youll never have to even load cutting string again. Can your string trimmer carry up to ten feet or more of continuous length string ? The thing is so easy to use that the complete dummy that cant understand the simple funtion of a screwdriver can use it with no trouble at all. A company in Ohio has the patent and is trying to promote it. I read about it in another lawn care site and I think its called ‘ Trim Wizard ‘. I googled trim wizard and saw more info. Companies name that wants to introduce it is Zenovate. Hope they get it out ! Sounds really neat !
